Built for the Field,
Not Just the Certificate
Every program is taught in person, hands-on, by instructors with real security and emergency response experience — starting with the course that starts every career: the 8-Hour Guard Card course.
Right now, we teach the 8-Hour Power to Arrest & Appropriate Use of Force course — the required first step toward your California Guard Card — along with CPR, AED & First Aid. We don't just hand you a certificate and disappear: we walk you through exactly what comes next, from your BSIS application to Live Scan, so you always know your next move. The remaining state-required training hours are completed through other BSIS-approved providers once you're registered.
8-Hour Power to Arrest &
Appropriate Use of Force
The California BSIS-required course covering the legal powers, responsibilities, and use-of-force guidelines for security professionals — the mandatory first step on the Guard Card pathway. No prior experience required; students must meet BSIS eligibility requirements (18+, legally eligible to work in the U.S.).
Part A — Power to Arrest 3 Hours
- Responsibilities and ethics of citizen arrest, and types of encounters

- Limits on the power to arrest, contractual obligations & company policy
- Restrictions on searches and seizures
- Criminal and civil liability — personal and employer
Part B — Appropriate Use of Force 5 Hours

- Duty to intercede; de-escalation & interpersonal communication
- Implicit & explicit bias, cultural competency

① The entire 8-hour course must be taught and certified by a single provider — you can't split it between schools. ② Your certificate must be dated within the six months before you submit your application. Finish with us, then apply promptly. SB 652 · BPC § 7583.6
Bring a valid government-issued photo ID and your confirmation. We recommend arriving 10–15 minutes early for check-in, or at minimum on time — late arrivals may not be admitted. The class is instructor-led with structured presentation, discussion, and hands-on examples. Questions? See the FAQ or check upcoming dates.
CPR, AED & First Aid Certification
Adult & Pediatric
Essential emergency response training in CPR, AED operation, and First Aid for both adults and children — ideal for security professionals, workplace employees, caregivers, and anyone who wants to be prepared to respond to medical emergencies.
What You'll Learn
- CPR for adults and children
- Proper use of an AED (automated external defibrillator)
- Choking response and bleeding control
- Emergency scene safety and rapid assessment
- Providing appropriate care until professional help arrives
How the Class Works
The course is conducted in person to ensure proper hands-on skill demonstration and assessment, taught through structured presentation, interactive discussion, and real-life scenarios. There is no written exam — your instructor works with you throughout training and answers questions until you leave confident and prepared to use the skills.
On successful completion you receive your American Red Cross certification card, valid for 2 years from the date of completion. These skills serve you in both workplace and everyday-life emergencies — and many security employers prefer guards with current CPR/First Aid.
CPR, AED & First Aid does not run on a fixed calendar — we schedule it by request, including combo dates paired with your 8-Hour Guard Card course. Reach out as soon as you can with your preferred timing and we'll lock in a date. Includes full instruction and American Red Cross certification on successful completion; you'll receive email confirmation with course details and class-day instructions.

Priority Scheduling —
Your Timeline
A private, one-on-one version of the required 8-Hour Power to Arrest & Appropriate Use of Force course, for students who don't want to wait for the next group class to start their Guard Card process.
- Full 8 hours with a dedicated instructor — two ways to take it: all in person, or the 3-hour Power to Arrest module live online with the 5-hour Use of Force portion in person
- Live online means exactly that — a real instructor on screen in real time, so you can ask questions and interact throughout. Not a recording, not a self-paced video
- Individualized pacing, extra time for questions, direct next-step guidance
- Morning, afternoon, and evening slots may be available
- Same required curriculum, same certificate, still one provider start to finish — fully SB 652 compliant
Priority sessions are scheduled by request around instructor availability — reach out as soon as you can to secure your date.
