More Than
a Certificate
We started Nocturnal Protective Services with one goal: to prepare people for the real responsibility of this profession. This is not just a job — it's real people, real situations, and real consequences.
At Nocturnal Protective Services, we believe quality training should do more than check a box. We focus on hands-on, structured instruction that builds confidence, competence, and real-world readiness from day one. Our goal is simple: to help prepare security professionals with the knowledge, discipline, and mindset needed to succeed in this profession.
This mission is personal to us. We come from a background built on hard work, accountability, and a commitment to doing things the right way. We understand the importance of trust, preparation, and the responsibility that comes with protecting others.
Through Nocturnal Protective Services, we are committed to helping develop professionals who carry themselves with confidence, operate with integrity, and take pride in the role they serve.

Two Backgrounds.
One Standard.
Mario Galvan
Mario Galvan is the Co-Owner and Lead Instructor at Nocturnal Protective Services. He leads the development and delivery of NPS training programs, bringing over 15 years of experience in security, emergency response, and public safety. Through his work, Mario focuses on preparing students with the knowledge, awareness, and professional mindset required in the security field.
Mario develops and delivers hands-on instruction based on his experience in the field, including threat assessment, conflict de-escalation, and emergency response. After transitioning from security professional to instructor, he focused on transforming the instincts, judgment calls, and lessons learned throughout his career into training that others can apply and carry with them.
Mario began his path through service with the Cerritos Sheriff's Station before spending a decade with the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department security division. His experience in security, leadership, and mentorship continues to shape his commitment to helping develop professionals who value integrity, accountability, and responsibility.

Zully Penaloza
Zully Penaloza is the Co-Owner and Operational Lead of Nocturnal Protective Services, overseeing the administration, compliance, and operations that support the organization's mission. With a Business Law background from California State University, Northridge, and hands-on experience in the legal field, she brings the structure, discipline, and attention to detail needed to help NPS continue to grow.
Calm under pressure and driven by solutions, Zully approaches challenges by asking the right questions, doing the research, building the plan, and following through. Her passion for leadership and service began through the Los Angeles Police Department Cadet Program, where she advanced to the rank of Corporal, led by example, and taught classes focused on leadership and women in business.
If Mario is the heart of NPS in the classroom, Zully is the foundation that keeps the vision moving forward. Together, they bring different strengths that make Nocturnal Protective Services possible. Guided by her family, her values, and the legacy of her loved ones, Zully continues to build NPS with the same determination she has carried since she was young: to work hard, create something meaningful, and make them proud.
